Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin to Minooka, Illinois (via Iowa)We spent most of the day in Iowa today! It was a variety of activities and we are slowly making our way home. The above picture is from the field where the movie
Field of Dreams was filmed.
We played ball on the field where they filmed Field of Dreams. They had balls, bats, and gloves (but not for my southpaw) for playing and a guy was out there that pitched to the kids so they could hit.
There was also a geocache nearby... Appropriate container!
We almost cut this stop due to time constraints, but we decided to go anyway and I'm glad we did. We spent most of our time in the presidential library, which is right next to the historic site (which includes his birthplace home).
I honestly knew almost nothing about Herbert Hoover before today. He was a true humanitarian. He was orphaned at 9 and was an international businessman by 23.
Yet another piece of the Berlin Wall... That's the third piece this trip.
We spent about an hour at a science museum this afternoon. The kids enjoyed the hands-on activities.

We got to eat dinner with one of my elementary school best friends. Her father was Navy and they moved when we were in 6th grade. She now lives close to where we were passing through in Illinois and the timing worked out for us to meet up. We enjoyed catching up.
So far, we have driven 9,300 miles and have been through 21 states. We have also visited 18 National Parks, 11 additional historic sites, and 2 presidential libraries.
