We spent the day driving kind of along Lake Michigan through Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan before heading to Ohio.
This National Site was pretty much on the way today so we decided to stop by. It's on the southern side of Chicago and was interesting.
Indiana
Well... This was a bust. We planned to eat there, but apparently no one under 21 is allowed on the premises so that didn't happen. So I walked in to get my charm but they didn't have any. In fact, the manager had never even seen the charms before.
The home where Michael Jackson and the rest of the Jackson 5 grew up. This was not a planned stop, but we saw the sign and it was only a 5 minute detour, so we stopped.
Indiana Dunes National Park on Lake Michigan. There was a warning of high surf and unsafe swimming conditions, so we only got our feet wet. It was a much better experience than Great Salt Lake. It was like being at the beach without the stickiness of the salt! If you zoom in on the picture of the kids you can see the Chicago skyline across the lake.
Michigan
We weren't in Michigan long and really didn't see anything of note. Mostly we just got some geocaches before continuing on our way.
In other news: We are finally back to Eastern Timezone :) My other pictures from today are in my Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan album.
So far, we have driven 9,600 miles and have been through 24 states. We have also visited 19 National Parks, 12 additional historic sites, and 2 presidential libraries.
