We got to see so many waterfalls today. Southern Idaho is beautiful. The picture above is from Shoshone Falls near Twin Falls.
Waterfalls
These waterfalls are at Shoshone Falls Park just outside of Twin Falls. This is a 200+ foot drop.
This was at Twin Falls Park. There used to be two waterfalls here and this is where Twin Falls (the city) gets its name, but there is only one waterfall now due to the power company and redirecting the water.
Perrine Coulee waterfall. If you look closely, you can see me and the kids standing just to the left of the waterfall.
These 4 waterfalls are from Thousand Springs State Park as viewed from Thousand Springs Scenic Byway. We passed on this state Park, but I imagine it has some good hiking!
This is a famous horse fossil. It predates modern horses. Isaiah was familiar with it.
The ranger was teaching the kids about fossils. There are also a couple spatter cone volcanoes that you can hike to and look in. This was yet another great stop in southern Idaho.
Arco, Idaho
This was the first city ever lit with nuclear power. David and Isaiah were familiar with it, but I wasn't. Apparently, they buried this nuclear ship nearby. We passed by too late to go to the museum.
Looks like a volcano to me! This was somewhere between Arco and Idaho Falls.Check out my Idaho album to see the pictures in Idaho (from yesterday and today).
So far, we have driven 6,800 miles on this trip. We have been to 13 National Parks, 7 additional historic sites, 1 presidential library and been through 14 states.
