Today was another kind of lazy day. We spent the morning at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and spent the afternoon relaxing, finishing laundry, and packing up for the next leg of our trip.
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
They said this is a Mojave Desert Tortoise. I thought it looked an awful lot like a gopher tortoise, so I looked it up. Apparently, there are 4 different types of gopher tortoises and this is one of them. I assume gopher tortoises in South Georgia are a different kind. Who knew?
The kids got to play with some adoptable kittens and dogs. They had a blast. And no, we did not adopt one.
The Animal Sanctuary has so much land. They have beautiful views, nature trails, and rehabilitation services for all different types of animals (domesticated and wild). It was an informative and relaxing day.
We are back on the road tomorrow. Hopefully the other National Parks in Utah will not be as crowded as Zion was yesterday!
