Day 4 - Driving and Rest Day

Colby, Kansas to Loveland, Colorado
Today was a pretty low key day, so this will not be a very interesting post. We slept in and didn't do much but drive and geocache. But it was a much needed break. The above pic is a cactus we saw in Nebraska.

There are only 5 geocaches still active that were hidden in May of 2000 (when geocaching first started). Mingo (which we found yesterday) is the oldest. Arikaree is another May 2000 cache. This makes 3 May 2000 geocaches that David and I have (the kids have 2 each). We went down miles and miles and miles and miles of dirt roads to get there. It was an interesting area, though. Check out the link above to see what Arikaree Breaks is all about!

Nebraska
Yep... We entered Nebraska via a dirt road. No sign or anything. The cactus from the first picture was the highlight of Nebraska.

We were only in Nebraska for about an hour... Long enough to say we've been there! We got 2 geocaches, one of which was at this historical marker.

Lunch in Colorado
We got lucky for lunch. We stopped to eat at a picnic shelter in a strip mall parking lot and Vyve had a promotional event going on. I asked if we could use one of the picnic tables and they offered us hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch. It worked out great!

Hard Rock Cafe Denver
For those who don't know, I collect Guitar Pick Charms from all the Hard Rock Cafes I visit. We don't always eat there, but I do walk in the Rock Shop to get my charm. Denver HRC makes the 27th Hard Rock Cafe I have visited. Unfortunately, they had no guitar pick charms and the Denver HRC is closing in July, so I was unable to get my charm and they aren't getting any more in. So I told David he now has a mission ;)

On another note, we have officially gotten to the mountains. I hope to have better pics tomorrow and I hope the weather holds off.

Today's "interesting things we saw on while driving".

Here's the link to the rest of my Kansas and Nebraska pics (same album I linked. yesterday with a few pics added).

We are now on Mountain Time. So far, we have driven about 2,000 miles and visited 8 states. We will be in Colorado for the next several days.
