Day 15 - Hello California!

Lake Havasu City, Arizona to San Bernandino, California
We finally made it to California. We listened to The Beach Boys as we crossed the state line. Unfortunately, we mostly just saw desert in California today. Tomorrow we will go to the coast. The above picture is from Joshua Tree National Park.

Arizona Desert Scenery
A dam along the Colorado River between Arizona and California.

The area along the border between Arizona and California is really pretty.

California Desert Scenery
Geocaching in the desert. Look for a strategically placed pile of rocks!

The shoe fence... not sure why it's here?

Joshua Tree National Park
An oasis at Joshua Treen National Park.

Fun fact: A Joshua Tree is not actually a tree, but it's also not a bush. It's an agave. And they were possibly named after Joshua in the Bible.

Pioneertown
Not sure this was worth the 8 mile detour, but it was okay. It's an old West Town that was made as a movie set.

Palm Springs
The architecture was very interesting here. It has a 1950s Hollywood vibe for sure.
Elvis's Honeymoon Hideaway... Elvis and Priscilla honeymooned and lived here awhile.

This yard was full of metal sculptures, most of which were robots.

David and I first saw a Wigwam hotel in Kentucky about 10 years ago. When I saw this one was close to where I thought we would have one night, I booked it. There are only 3 remaining. I will post some daylight pics tomorrow.

We have now driven 4,300 miles on this trip. We have been to 7 National Parks, and been through 12 states so far.
