Cortez, Colorado to Page, Arizona
Today was a LONG day. It was also our last day in Colorado! The above picture is from Cliff Palace at Mesa Verde National Park.
These are the largest known cliff dwellings in the U.S.
The tour of Cliff Palace involved ladders and narrow stairs. It's really amazing to think that people climbed down these cliffs and built these homes over 700 years ago. I imagine they were quite a site in the 1200s when they were first built.
Several people suggested we try the fry bread. This was fresh made (we watched her make it). One was sweet and the other was savory... they were both delicious.
Navajo Tacos for lunch! Check out the rest of our Mesa Verde pictures in my Mesa Verde album.
Four Corners
Four Corners is where the corners of Utah, Colorado, Arizona, & New Mexico meet in one point. It's cheesy, but it was only 15 minutes away so we stopped by on our way to Monument Valley.
Hannah and I bought matching bracelets from a Navajo woman named Eve who was selling her handmade jewelry at Four Corners. In fact, we both wanted the same one, but she only had one so she made us a second one while we waited. The brown beads are Juniper Seeds.
Monument Valley
To me, this is one of the iconic pictures from Monument Valley. The rock formations were quite impressive. I took way too many pictures and those who are interested can check out my Monument Valley album.
Run, Forrest, Run! If you have watched Forrest Gump, you might recognize that this is the spot where he stops running. After going through the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, this spot was about 15 minutes out of the way, but I really wanted to go see it. It's really beautiful.
We have traveled about 3,400 miles, have been to 11 states, and have visited 5 National Parks on this trip.
