Day 0 - Driving, Driving, and More Driving

Home to Clarksville, TN
We are officially on the road!

Let me start by saying that this is NOT going to be an interesting post. I'm mostly doing it for myself so that I will remember the chaos of preparing for the trip. So I don't blame anyone who decides to stop reading now...I would :)

I am calling today Day 0 because we didn't do anything but drive after church and because we originally planned to leave tomorrow. Due to traffic concerns in Atlanta, we decided to leave after church and get past Atlanta tonight instead of waiting until tomorrow. This was a great decision because Atlanta was a breeze today.

The goal today was Nashville since we didn't leave until after church. We actually made it about 30 minutes past Nashville so I count that as a win! Hello central time zone.
Odometer reading right before we pulled out of the driveway at home. My car won't be "new" anymore by the time we get home.

I spent the last 3 weeks trying to use as much food as possible out of the pantry, refrigerator, freezer, and deep freezer so that there's less chance of any wasted food while we're gone. They have never been so empty!

How do you pack for a 7 week road trip? You don't. You actually just pack for 2 week road trip and then make sure you have rest periods along the way. Our first rest period is day 13 in Sedona where we will stay with Aunt Elon (my dad's sister).

I was glad to see Hannah take a nap since she's my sleeper and we had both a late night tonight and an early day tomorrow. We are hoping to make it to St. Louis before noon to see the geyser across the river from the Gateway Arch.

She had a headache and said it was too bright, so I let her wear my sunglasses... she was too cute not to snap at least one pic.

Tomorrow is Hannah's birthday, so we're going to do something fun for her in St. Louis.
